As Turkey’s third largest city and its major port on the
Aegean coast, Izmir's setting is certainly unique; its
great bay backed to the east and south by mountains. The
city is an excellent base for excursions to nearby ancient
sites such as Ephesus, Pergamon and Sardis. |
